Colorado Krathong
I’ve been working on a short documentary about Loy Krathong, a Thai festival where you send your bad luck, guilt, negativity and pretty much everything rotten about your life down the river or out to sea in a floating lotus blossom filled with candles. In Denver, Colorado - where there are no major waterways - the Thai immigrant population celebrates by setting their troubles adrift in a makeshift kiddie pool set up in front of a local temple. In all its modesty, this vision of a small community gathering together against the darkness is a story for our times.
